In
her college days as design major,
Pat
began using a Canon 35mm
camera. Inspired by the writings of
Henry David Thoreau, and with a
strong interest in natural
science, she has enjoyed
photographing nature along the east coast and New
England. In the late 1990's while designing
intranet web sites, she began to
explore the use of digital cameras
for photographing plants and
flowers. Pat's
equipment includes both Nikon
and Olympus cameras and lenses.
Pat currently resides
in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
The process of photographing flowers
is a meditative one for her, as in
the garden, time stands still. She
tries to imbue a sense of the inner
landscape or garden of the
soul, along with those illusive
childhood memories into her
photographs.
While studying
fine art floral photography under
Tony Sweet, a well-known and highly
respected nature photographer, Pat
was voted top in her class. She has
been influenced by the floral
masters, Georgia O'Keeffe, Robert
Mapplethorpe, Edward Weston, and
Harold Feinstein. More recently,
through this website, she
has begun to share with others the
images of the floral world that she
finds so compelling.
